IF YOU Pass around the Great Mosque of Palu, West Palu,
Central Sulawesi, you will surely find a large, nice and stylish building just
west of the Great Mosque fence.

The building is a former regional office of the
Department of Religion of Central Sulawesi which now seems to be not used.
Around 2016-2017 then the state disbursed a budget of Rp9 billion to renovate
the building designated as Wisma Pendidikan. Unfortunately, monitoring
Kailipost.com a few months ago – after the disaster the building was no man’s
land, aka no activity. The former Depag of Central Sulawesi is estimated to be
about a quarter hectare and inside it are rooms that are still suitable for
use.

Paradoxically, in the courtyard of the mosque
since six months ago after the devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake and
liquefaction of the page of the Great Mosque were filled with tents of refugee
victims of the disaster. Between the mosque yard and the former Central Office
of the Ministry of Religion of Central Sulawesi, only the fence and the highway
are not separated by 5 meters. An irony but that’s the reality.

The Ministry of Religion’s education house was not
clear about its activities and usage. Some parties regretted the ‘portrait’ of
the irony. The government should be able to relocate refugees in the courtyard
of the Great Mosque to stay temporarily in the building.

“This is a sad fact. The government lost its
sensitivity to let people live in rain and heat tents rather than using the
building for humanity. This is a gloomy portrait. The state is not smart and
loses empathy,” said Muhammad Syukur, a Palu refugee humanitarian
activist, at Jakarta, Sunday (04/07/2019).
The data obtained that the former Central Office
of the Ministry of Religion of Central Sulawesi turned function as Wisma
Pendidikan when its officials were Mohsen Alidroes, who is now one of the
Directors of the KUA at the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia.

Initially, Mokhsen’s idea for building utilization
after the Central Sulawesi Regional Office of Religion moved to Jalan Moh Yamin
Palu. Unfortunately, this idea did not seem to work well so the impression was
that the building was redundant.

Several sources also questioned the Rp9 billion
budget for the rehabilitation of the building to become the Education House. ‘’
For all nine billion rupiah for the rehabilitation of the building. Try to see
it in the building, ‘said one observer of religious education in Central
Sulawesi, M Yahya SPdi.

Now it is expected that the former building can
function temporarily to accommodate refugee refugees living in tents in the
Great Mosque of Palu.**
